As the 50th anniversary of Nixon’s declaration of the “war on drugs” approaches on June 17, a new poll shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans believe the drug war has failed and strongly support ending criminal penalties for drug possession.
For the first time, the public agrees that it’s time to decriminalize drugs and reinvest into treatment and health services.
We already did it in Oregon, which became the first state to decriminalize the personal use and possession of all drugs and expand access to treatment and other health services.
Now DPA is leading the effort to build support for decriminalization in Congress so we can begin dismantling 50 years of failed drug war policies. Join us by telling your members of Congress to support drug decriminalization.
